Everest College Patient Care Technician Degree Program

The Patient Care Technician program should prepare you to provide direct care to individuals in a variety of healthcare environments. You should gain technical expertise to provide effective clinical assistance to patients. 

You may work alongside doctors and other healthcare professionals to oversee and monitor patients. Your education may combine basic medical knowledge and hands-on skills gathered in the classroom and laboratory.

Patient Care Technician Class Training
 
The Patient Care Technician program should provide you with training to perform clinical tasks such as:
  • Collecting blood.
  • Performing electrocardiograms (EKGs).
  • Completing catheterizations.
  • Recording vital signs and patient treatments.
You should also receive instruction in anatomy and physiology, understanding body functions and related illnesses and be given a thorough understanding of medical terminology to aid in the collection and documentation of patient data. 

Patient Care Career Opportunities
 
You should have the skills necessary to gain employment in a number of capacities. Job opportunities should be prevalent in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and assisted living facilities.

Upon completion of this program, you should be eligible to be certified in basic life support from the National Safety Council. You should also be eligible to take exams to become certified as Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technicians, and Phlebotomy Technicians.
